The user is cautioned that this device should be used only as specified within this manual to meet RF exposure requirements. Use of this device in a manner inconsistent with this manual could lead to excessive RF exposure conditions. This Class B digital apparatus complies with Canadian ICES-003. The technology of LED driver can bring you more colorful and brighter image as well as smooth video entertainment at any time any place. 1 x Projector, 1 x Remote Controller, 1 x Adapter, 1 x AV Cable, 1 x VGA Cable, 1 x Fuse, 1 x Lens Cloth, 1 x User Manual. Fixed distance projectors can only resize the image by moving the projector. Recently I found a neat guide on how to make a video projector out of a shoebox, a magnifying lens, and a smartphone. It's surprisingly simple: cut a hole in one end of the box (just smaller than your lens), put the lens in/over the hole, place the phone inside the box, prop it up with a paper clip or whatever, move it until the picture is in focus.

Color Brightness and White Brightness (Lumens)

Projectors come in a wide range of brightness which are measured in lumens. The brighter the projector the higher the lumen rating, and, all else being equal the more it will likely cost.

When shopping for a projector, be sure to look for two lumen specifications: One for color brightness and one for white brightness. There can be major differences among different projectors and brands, so color should be measured and listed separately to provide accurate information. If the information provided only gives you one lumen rating, it is typically referring only to the white brightness of the projector. The actual brightness of color may be as little as one-third of the lumens stated.

The amount of brightness you need is determined by the room you project in. Projector brightness is measured in lumens. For home theater projectors where ambient light is kept to a minimum, you'll need a minimum of 1500 lumens. For classrooms, conference rooms or rooms with windows, a projector with a minimum of 2500 lumens is best. For large auditoriums or lecture halls, you'll need more lumens.

All Epson projectors specify white brightness using ISO 21118 and color brightness using IDMS 15.4, to make it easy to compare projectors. If you are going to be projecting color images, be sure to look for a projector with high color light output.

While just about every projector generates a bright, crisp image in a perfectly dark room, business projectors frequently need to do it in a conference room setting with the lights on. Doing this requires a projector with a high light output, or lumen, rating. However, this is only the first step. To get the most output from the projector, presenters need to choose the correct settings and keep the projector in good condition. At the same time, they can make better use of the projector's maximum output through intelligently positioning it and making good choices about how they configure the room and its lighting.

Getting More Lumens

Step 1

Clean your projector's lens. Smudges, fingerprints and dust all block the light coming out of your lens and prevent it from getting to the screen.

Step 2

Set your projector's lamp to its highest setting. Some projectors have a lamp button that you can press to increase its light output. Others will require you to go into the menu to do this. Bear in mind that your lamp may burn out more quickly when you use it in its brightest setting.

Step 3

Choose the presentation mode that gives you the greatest light output. Generally speaking, modes like 'Eco,' 'Cinema,' and 'Movie' will dim your projector to provide energy savings or better performance in the darker parts of an image. If brightness if your greatest concern, look for modes like 'Normal,' 'Bright,' or 'Presentation.' Because projectors are different, you will need to look at every option to see which is best for your particular device.

Step 4

Replace your bulb if it is getting old. Many projector bulbs dim as they age, with some losing as much as one-half of their brightness. If your bulb is nearing the end of its life, putting in a new one could make a significant difference in your projector's perfomance.

Step 1

Control the lighting in your room. While it might be impractical to completely dim your room, doing basic things like turning off lights that shine on your screen or covering the windows near your screen can make a big difference.

Step 2

Project a smaller image. The larger the image is, the more spread out the projector's light gets. If you can shrink the image a little bit, it will appear to be brighter and sharper.

Step 3

Keep your projector as close to the screen as you can. Using your projector's zoom lens to project a large image from a distance can reduce your projector's effective brightness by up to 40 percent. If you can, put the projector as close to the screen as you can while still achieving a sharp image of the correct size.

Step 4

Position your projector flat and on-center. Tilting your projector will give you a trapezoidal image. Using image correction to fix this also reduces your projector's effective light output. In the same vein, using a lens shift function to let you position your projector off-center ends up using a less efficient part of the lens and also reduces light output.

Tip

  • Keep your projector's vents clean. When you run it at maximum brightness, more heat can build up. This makes good air flow even more important.
