1. INTRODUCTION

Thank you very much for expressing your confidence in our products by purchasing one of our headphone amplifier systems. This 4-channel stereo headphone amplifier is designed for use with all types of headphones and therefore provides maximum flexibility. Its high-power stereo amplifiers guarantee the highest sonic quality. The ultra low-noise 4580 operational amplifiers ensure outstanding audio performance.

Please read the manual carefully and keep it around for future reference.

1.1 Before you begin

1.1.1 Shipment

Your AMP800 was carefully packed at the factory, and the packaging was designed to protect the unit from rough handling. Nevertheless, we recommend that you carefully examine the packaging and its contents for any signs of physical damage that may have occurred during transit.

If the unit is damaged, please do NOT return it to BEHRINGER. Instead, notify your dealer and the shipping company immediately. Otherwise, claims for damage or replacement may not be honored.

Always use the original packing carton to prevent damage during storage or transport.

Make sure that no children are left unsupervised with the AMP800 or its packaging.

Please ensure proper disposal of all packing materials.

1.1.2 Initial operation

Do not put the AMP800 on any equipment that generates intense heat, for example an amplifier. Ensure that the ventilation openings that are located on the top panel of the AMP800 are not covered or blocked.

To power the AMP800, use only the power supply unit that is delivered with your equipment.

2. CONTROL ELEMENTS

The AMP800 is a headphone amplifier that includes 4 Headphone Channels, so you can share the

AMP800 with other musicians. In addition, each musician can choose between 2 audio channels: Input Channel A and Input Channel B.

Ensure that only qualified personnel set up and operate the AMP800.

2.1 Front panel

This section describes how to use the front panel of the AMP800, illustrated as follows:

In the previous illustration, each control element is associated with a callout, for example . In this section, use these callouts to identify details about each control element.

For each Input Channel (A and B), the front panel includes control elements and . To manage the signal in each of these Input Channels, use these control elements:

LEVEL control: To adjust the input level of a signal, turn this control toward 0 (minimum level) or, alternatively 6 (maximum level).

BALANCE control: To adjust the stereo image of a signal, turn this control toward L (left) or, alternatively R (right).

A + B meter: To monitor the combined level of both signals (A and B), use this meter. An LED glows next to the value that identifies the combined level (-24dB to 0 dB). If the signal is too strong, the CLIP LED glows. Most of the time, the optimal level is 0 dB (a full signal).

For each Headphone Channel (1, 2, 3, and 4), the front panel includes control elements through

(headphone) connector: To connect a headphone, use this stereo, ¼' TRS connector. For details about TRS plugs, see 4. AUDIO CONNECTIONS.

INPUT button: To select an Input Channel, push this button. When you listen to:

PHONES LEVEL control: To adjust the level of a headphone signal, turn this control toward 0 (minimum volume) or, alternatively 6 (maximum volume).

CH meter: To monitor the level of a headphone signal, use this meter. An LED glows next to the value that identifies the headphone volume (-24dB to 0 dB). If the signal is too strong, the CLIP LED glows. Most of the time, the optimal volume is 0 dB (a full signal).

2.2 Rear panel

This section describes how to use the rear panel to set up the AMP800.

POWER connector: To power the AMP800, connect the power supply unit to this connector.

This power supply unit is delivered with the AMP800.

PHONES OUT connectors: For each Headphone Channel (1, 2, 3, and 4), the rear panel includes an additional headphone connector, which is a stereo, ¼' TRS connector.

LINK OUT A connectors: If you need more than the 4 Headphone Channels that a single

AMP800 provides, connect these balanced, ¼' TRS connectors (Left and Right) to the inputs of another AMP800. The LINK OUT A connectors send only the signal of Input Channel A, without any LEVEL or BALANCE settings.

INPUT connectors: For each Input Channel (A and B), the rear panel includes 2 balanced, ¼' TRS connectors (Left and Right). Connect them to the outputs of a mixer, a CD player, or a soundcard. For mono signals, use only the L connector.

If the output is balanced and you insert unbalanced, ¼' TS plugs in the INPUT connectors, the signal level will decrease 6 dB. To raise the signal level, use the relevant LEVEL control ( ).

SERIAL NUMBER: To register the AMP800, use this unique serial number. For details about TS and TRS plugs, see 4. AUDIO CONNECTIONS.

§1 OTHER WARRANTY RIGHTS AND NATIONAL LAW

1.This warranty does not exclude or limit the buyer’s statutory rights provided by national law, in particular, any such rights against the seller that arise from a legally effective purchase contract.

2.The warranty regulations mentioned herein are applicable unless they constitute an infringement of national warranty law.

§3 WARRANTY

Behringer Headphone System

1.BEHRINGER (BEHRINGER International GmbH including all BEHRINGER subsidiaries listed on the enclosed page, except BEHRINGER Japan) warrants the mechanical and electronic components of this product to be free of defects in material and workmanship for a period of one (1) year* from the original date of purchase, in accordance with the warranty regulations described below. If the product shows any defects within the specified warranty period that are not excluded from this warranty as described under § 5, BEHRINGER shall, at its discretion, either replace or repair the product using suitable new or reconditioned parts. In the case that other parts are used which constitute an improvement, BEHRINGER may, at its discretion, charge the customer for the additional cost of these parts.

2.If the warranty claim proves to be justified, the product will be returned to the user freight prepaid.

3.Warranty claims other than those indicated above are expressly excluded.

§4 RETURN AUTHORIZATION NUMBER

1.To obtain warranty service, the buyer (or his authorized dealer) must call BEHRINGER (see enclosed list) during normal business hours BEFORE returning the product. All inquiries must be accompanied by a description of the problem. BEHRINGER will then issue a return authorization number.

2.Subsequently, the product must be returned in its original shipping carton, together with the return authorization number to the address indicated by BEHRINGER.

3.Shipments without freight prepaid will not be accepted.

§5 WARRANTY REGULATIONS

1.Warranty services will be furnished only if the product is accompanied by a copy of the original retail dealer’s invoice. Any product deemed eligible for repair or replacement under the terms of this warranty will be repaired or replaced.

2.If the product needs to be modified or adapted in order to comply with applicable technical or safety standards on a national or local level, in any country which is not the country for which the product was originally developed and manufactured, this modification/adaptation shall not be considered a defect in materials or workmanship. The warranty does not cover any such modification/ adaptation, irrespective of whether it was carried out properly or not. Under the terms of this warranty, BEHRINGER shall not be held responsible for any cost resulting from such a modification/adaptation.

3.Free inspections and maintenance/repair work are expressly excluded from this warranty, in particular, if caused by improper handling of the product by the user. This also applies to defects caused by normal wear and tear, in particular, of faders, crossfaders, potentiometers, keys/buttons, tubes, guitar strings, illuminants and similar parts.

4. Damages/defects caused by the following conditions are not covered by this warranty:

improper handling, neglect or failure to operate the unit in compliance with the instructions given in BEHRINGER user or service manuals.

connection or operation of the unit in any way that does not comply with the technical or safety regulations applicable in the country where the product is used.

damages/defects caused by force majeure or any other condition that is beyond the control of BEHRINGER.

5.Any repair or opening of the unit carried out by unauthorized personnel (user included) will void the warranty.

6.If an inspection of the product by BEHRINGER shows that the defect in question is not covered by the warranty, the inspection costs are payable by the customer.

7.Products which do not meet the terms of this warranty will be repaired exclusively at the buyer’s expense. BEHRINGER will inform the buyer of any such circumstance. If the buyer fails to submit a written repair order within 6 weeks after notification, BEHRINGER will return the unit C.O.D. with a separate invoice for freight and packing. Such costs will also be invoiced separately when the buyer has sent in a written repair order.

§ 6 WARRANTY TRANSFERABILITY

This warranty is extended exclusively to the original buyer (customer of retail dealer) and is not transferable to anyone who may subsequently purchase this product. No other person (retail dealer, etc.) shall be entitled to give any warranty promise on behalf of BEHRINGER.

§ 7 CLAIM FOR DAMAGES

Failure of BEHRINGER to provide proper warranty service shall not entitle the buyer to claim (consequential) damages. In no event shall the liability of BEHRINGER exceed the invoiced value of the product.

This thing is excellent. I'm really I glad I chose this over the lower priced 'competing' products. Four stereo channels, each with its own gain control, and in fact each channel has two separate inputs which are selected with an a/b switch on the front of the unit. I use this thing in an amateur recording studio setting to route audio from the mixer/recorder to each musician's headphones. Plus it looks really great with all the LEDs including vu meter graphs of each channel's volume.

Mis-balanced

The left-right balance is off at very low volumes. You must adjust the balance as you change the volume (only noticeable at very low volumes). The Behringer HA400 has the same balance problem, but you can't adjust the balance on that one.

Not a TRUE independent four channel headphone amp without adapters.

I ordered this because I was looking for a four channel headphone amp. I wanted the ability to run four audio sources (aux sends) into the device and then give four musicians independent control over those sends. In actuality the device is set up to be two stereo channels with four outputs. This means that each of the four Chanel's can choose from stereo input A or B. With some adapters I was able to split the stereo signal into four independent mono sends but it was a little tricky. This could have easily been accomplished with a mono / stereo switch on each channel or a global switch on the back. I was able to make the device do what I needed it to do; however, it took quite a bit of adapting to make it work.

If you want a quality 4 person headphone amp, ...

If you want a quality 4 person headphone amp, get this one instead of the Micro. Both run on ac adapters, but this one has separate inputs for left and right channels or you can use just the left one for mono, plus it also allows 2 input sources which are switchable on a per user level

I use this baby in my recording studio, and also to drive headphones for the band at rehearsals. It has all the power you will ever need and is very easy to operate. It even has redundant jacks! It is a very good value, as are all of the Behringer products that I currently use. I find that they are feature rich, and budget friendly!

I'm glad we did

Hi Folks... My wife and I are the executive producers of a radio show and online TV show. I have constantly had an issue routing audio to headphones through a device that worked perfectly and offered options for an additional 2 outputs we could control. There are several pricy devices available - and buying two to handle our needs... too much equipment on the desk. Then I found​ this little gem. A few reviews sounded critical, but I figured for the price, why not try it. I'm glad we did! This is a champ! It is quiet running - no hiss when no signal is present. And with individual level controls for each headphone (or in our case 2 headphones and 2 audio monitors) you couldn't ask for anything better. why buy a more expensive device? This is well made, a little light but so what... and it performs! That's the best part! If you are looking for a device like this and wondering (like we did) I know you will be very happy with this. We are, and would buy another if the need arises.

If you're looking for a decent headphone amp and you're on a budget, this is the way to go. I've been a professional musician and audio engineer for 20 years now and I usually shy away from Behringer products, but I've been less than wealthy lately so I figured I'd give this a shot. It's loud, it works, and does what it says it does. I didn't give it 5 stars because it's very lightweight and made of plastic so I'm afraid if it ever takes a tumble it will wind up in pieces or just not work anymore. It also doesn't sound amazing.. I'm not saying it sounds bad, but I did notice a quality difference in audio when using it. That being said, this is a great tool for a home studio.

Got this for my karaoke system.... this allow people to practice without bothering anyone. This amp has lots of control. Easy setup. Only issue i have is its very light. Have to put weights on it so it doesn't get drag around. Other than that.. I'm very happy with this purchase.

I was deciding between this and the Presonus 4 channel, ended up getting the Behringer because it was cheaper. I was surprised to find its decently loud (not ear bursting like the presonus), quiet, compact, and users can listen to two separate tracks (2 pairs of 1/4' mono inputs on the back, a button next to each headphone port selects channel A/B, each channel has separate gain and balance controls too). XLR inputs would have been nice but the unit would have to be made bigger. Plastic case feels fragile, dont try to sit or stand on it! Overall Im very pleased with the AMP800. Its not in the same league as the presonus but does a pretty good job for half the price.
